Replace Single Missing Teeth with Implant-Supported Crowns
If you are missing a single tooth but are hesitant to pursue replacement options that alter your other teeth like dental bridges, an implant-supported crown is a reliable choice that offers stability and durability. Drs. Dan Whiting and Geovanny Balderas at Smiles for Life Dental Care are proud to offer high-quality implant-supported dental crowns at their Bridgewater office, which provide a realistic appearance, comfortable fit, and years of reliable functionality.
Benefits of Implant-Supported Crowns
As the name suggests, an implant-supported crown is a dental crown attached to a dental implant, which is surgically inserted into the jawbone. While traditional options such as bridges do not require surgery to place, implant-supported crowns boast a number of unique benefits, including:
- Long-Lasting Support: While the crown will likely need replacement over time, implants can last for decades, if not a lifetime.
- Enhanced Function: Since dental implants merge with the bone and are permanent, they provide unmatched stability for your crown. It is much easier for you to enjoy eating your favorite foods and speak as your normally would.
- Natural Appearance: Implant-retained crowns replace the entire tooth, from crown to root, for a realistic appearance.
- Improved Oral Health: Because the dental implant stimulates your jawbone in the same way your natural tooth root does, patients can avoid bone breakdown and changes to the facial structure.

When is an implant-supported bridge needed?
A Solution for Several Conditions:
A Solution for Several Conditions:

Missing Teeth
Losing multiple teeth can jeopardize your oral health and lead to further tooth loss. A Prettau bridge is highly recommended because it replaces teeth from root to crown.

Widespread Decay
Decay can spread, taking over the majority of your smile. If most of the teeth in an arch are compromised, an implant-supported bridge may be the ideal solution.

Damage or Trauma
If you have suffered an injury that has broken several or most of your teeth, we may recommend a zirconia bridge to replace them and restore full function to your smile.
Most patients who qualify for implants can receive Teeth in a Day...
Have Sufficient Bone Tissue
Before recommending implants, your dentist will assess the health and stability of your jaw. Since dental implants rely on surrounding tissue for support, you may need a bone graft if your jawbone has atrophied.
Be in Good Health
Oral health issues, such as gum disease, and health concerns, such as diabetes, can affect the success of your implants. Be sure to discuss your full medical and dental history with our team during your initial implant consultation.
Avoid Smoking
Smoking and other tobacco use can significantly increase the chance of complications after implant surgery. For this reason, we strongly recommend quitting the habit at least a few months before your procedure.

Receiving a Zirconia Implant-supported Bridge
Undergoing treatment to receive a zirconia implant-supported bridge is a multi-step process. The first step is dental implants placement. An upper-arch Prettau® Bridge is supported with six dental implants, while a lower-arch version is supported with five. We will use 3-D computerized tomography (CT) scans to determine the best placement locations for your dental implants. After surgery, the implants will be left to heal so that they can completely fuse with the jawbone. When you return to our practice for the final phase of treatment, we will first ensure a proper fit before securing your zirconia implant-supported bridge firmly in place.
Introducing 3 on 6™ Dental Implants
A stable, natural-looking full-arch solution supported by six implants and three individual bridges.
3 on 6™ replaces an entire upper or lower arch with three porcelain bridges anchored to six implants. There’s no acrylic plate on the palate and no removable denture bulk—just a streamlined design that looks, feels, and functions like healthy teeth.
- Natural look and feel — slim, lifelike bridges that closely mimic natural teeth.
- Comfortable design — no bulky acrylic plate covering the roof of your mouth.
- Easy maintenance — clean your bridges with brushing and flossing, just like real teeth.
- Durable foundation — six implants distribute biting forces for strength and stability.
- Preserves bone health — strategically placed implants help prevent jawbone loss over time.
