So glad I chose Smiles for Life in Bridgewater to care for my dental needs. After a long hiatus from visiting the dentist, they welcomed me and made me feel comfortable during every step of my examination. The staff was friendly, courteous and very professional. Morgan Maggie, the dental hygienists, was very skilled in performing a deep cleaning without causing any pain or discomfort Although I have more visits to come, I have been throughly impressed with the care that I have received and would recommend them to anyone looking for a dental team.Posted on Google![]()

Dr. Geo Balderas was exceptionally kind to me. His professionalism raises the bar of dentistry in our region. I highly recommend Dr. Geo if you are timid or resolute when it comes to dental work. He put me at ease! Morgan Maggio is a phenomenal registered hygienist. Her care for me was professional, polite, and educational. She is flat out cool and that’s important to me. She gives off good energy and vibes. That’s big for me since I fear the dentist office lol!Posted on Google![]()

Veneer Candidates
While most of our patients qualify for veneers, we will first assess your candidacy during a consultation. At this time, we will examine your smile and discuss your goals to ensure veneers are the best treatment option. Some factors we take into consideration include:
Enamel Strength
We need to remove a small layer of surface enamel before we can place a dental veneer. Therefore, your tooth needs to have enough healthy structure, or else the shells will lack the proper support. If you have thin tooth enamel, we may recommend an alternative procedure like dental crowns that conceal flaws and provide structural support.
Oral Health
Good oral health is the foundation for any beautiful smile. Before you can undergo cosmetic dentistry treatment we will need to address tooth decay, periodontal disease, or other issues that affect your health.
Bruxism
If you suffer from bruxism (teeth grinding), you may not be the best candidate for veneers. Patients with bruxism can wear down the porcelain shells, damaging the results and weakening their teeth. You can still get veneers if your condition is mild. Wearing a mouthguard at night can also help prevent excessive wear.
Goals
Dental veneers permanently alter your natural tooth structure, so treatment is a life-long commitment. While the results can last for a decade or more, the shells will eventually need replacement. If you are not looking for a long-term commitment, you may be better suited for an alternative cosmetic treatment like dental bonding.

How Long Do Porcelain Veneers Last?
Maintaining Your Veneers
Brush and Floss
Brush twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush and non-abrasive toothpaste. Gel toothpastes are typically a good choice for porcelain veneers. Floss daily. Good oral health will keep the veneers looking pristine, and prevent dental health issues and tooth discoloration.
Avoid Bad Dental Habits
Habits like biting on your fingernails, using your teeth as tools, and excessive clenching and grinding can damage your veneers or cause them to become detached.
See the Dentist Regularly
Visit the dentist every six months, as recommended by the American Dental Association, to have your teeth professionally cleaned and examined. During the appointment, we can also check the condition of the veneers.

Alternative Cosmetic Procedures
If you are still unsure whether porcelain veneers are right for you, we offer alternative
cosmetic procedures at our dental office serving the Harrisonburg area.
Dental Bonding
Dental bonding is an affordable treatment designed to conceal minor aesthetic imperfections. In this procedure, we apply a tooth-colored composite resin directly to the surface of the enamel. The bonding is then carefully sculpted to match the shape and size of the natural tooth. While bonding treatment doesn’t last as long as porcelain veneers, it can be a good option if you are looking to ease into cosmetic enhancement to see how you like the results.
Orthodontics
While dental veneers can mask minor misalignment, orthodontic treatment is better for comprehensive corrections. Our Harrisonburg area practice offers Invisalign® clear aligners that discreetly reposition crooked teeth. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign trays are removable, so you can continue to eat your favorite foods and enjoy life unaffected by treatment. Once you complete Invisalign treatment, the results are permanent, setting you up with a straighter, healthier smile for life.
